In The Waiting....

This song has been special to me for many years now. I think the first time that I heard it was in the summer of 2003. It broke my heart because of it's truth. I was hurting. I needed answers. I needed peace. The peace that passeth all understanding. His peace. He IS Peace. The Prince of Peace. My Peace. I like this place of waiting now... because it reminds me again Who's God, and Who's the creation. Are you in the waiting....?

Pain.
The gift nobody longs for, still it comes.
And somehow leaves us stronger when it's gone away.
Pray.
I try and pray for Your will to be done.
But I confess it's never fast enough for me.
It seems the hardest part is waiting on You -
When what I really want is just to see Your hand move.

I want a peace beyond my understanding.
I wanna feel it fall like rain, in the middle of my hurting.
I wanna feel Your arms as they surround me.
And let me know that it's okay to be here in this place -
Resting in the peace that only comes:
In the waiting.

Time.
A time to let it go and just believe.
Trusting in what no one else but You can see.
Free.
Freedom from the fears that hold me in.
When I can't get beyond where I have been -
But then again the silence doesn't mean that I'm alone.
As long as I can hear that I am still Your own.

I want a peace beyond my understanding.
I wanna feel it fall like rain, in the middle of my hurting.
I wanna feel Your arms as they surround me.
And let me know that it's okay to be here in this place -
Resting in the peace that only comes:
In the waiting.

  1. Heather,

The lyrics fit my life at so many stages. Just reading them takes me back to different times of my walk and the waiting is always the hardest part.

I am Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! I am intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. I have a good head on my shoulders, and oftentimes find myself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. I take great pleasure in many things. I am proficient in nearly all of them, though I will never own it. Lest I seem too perfect, I have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves me very ill indeed.
